Explains historically how spiritual changes are inevitable. History is not just the evolution of technology but of thought. By looking at previous people, we can see how we gained our current awareness of the world. 1000 yrs ago, in the Middle Ages, reality was dominated by the churchmen who held strong influence over the populace. Regardless of whether you are a peasant or an aristocrat, social position is secondary to spiritual well being.

The Lord has placed mankind at the center of his universe for one purpose, to win or lose salvation. But you alone are not qualified to determine your status; you must follow the churchmen’s instructions. Everything that happens in the world is governed by the will of God or the temptations of the devil. There is no understanding of science; the reality you take for granted is operated via spiritual means. Righteous behaviour grants you a rewarding afterlife but failure means excommunication and damnation.

However, in the 14th and 15th Centuries, improprieties emerge, (broken vows) causing rebellion against the corrupt church and the world to be thrown into chaos and confusion. By the 1600s, astronomers have confirmed the earth revolves around the sun, mankind has lost its place at the center of God’s universe.

Instead of faith, we turned to science, a means of systematically exploring and discovering the nature of things. But the scientific method could not satisfy curiousity about the purpose of mankind immediately. We needed to occupy ourselves until our questions were answered and began working for economic security. And while working to raise the standard of living, we have forgotten we still don’t know what we’re surviving for. Although, it was a necessary stage in human evolution, we are now awakening from this preoccupation and re-establishing the need/desire for spirituality.
